Boomer is afraid of the vacuum and mop. He hides between the big blue chair and the ottoman when I'm using either one of those. And then when I vacuum right there, he goes into the foyer.
We've been trying to get him to go on real walks, instead of just outside the house to take care of business. He's a bit stubborn about it - maybe lazy, maybe just a puppy - but I've got 40+ years of stubborn on him. :) So far his walks are a little shorter than a quarter mile. He does come home hot and exhausted. I'd be both of those, too, if I walked outside in 80+ degree humid weather for 20-30 minutes while wearing a fur coat. No wonder he balks.
One of the first days we had Boomer home, I leaned down, clapped my hands and then held them out and said, "C'mere Boomer" and he walked over and put his both of front paws one in each of my hands. He didn't even jump up, just kind of sat up and then lifted his paws. We can't get him to do it again, but it was cute and funny.
Apparently the straw rug in the foyer was made to be a puppy chew toy. Once we get him past this stage, we'll be getting a new rug out there. :)
